Benefits
Fastcom's experience in implementing complex projects world-wide in very different access situations is a key part of
the success of SMACS. By partnering with biometric companies and door
suppliers, Fastcom has a deep understanding of the entire security chain and can propose the ideal solution
to your access situation.
One of the main advantages of SMACS is its capability to adapt to each and any physical access process. Your company no longer needs to adapt its habits to accomodate traditional physical
access control, SMACS does it. No matter the complexity of the
situation: up to 8 doors, multi-person checking, material-only combined material and personnel; each SMACS solution combines its highly reliabie tailgating detection with comfort of
use and esthetics through use of existing infrastructure.
10 good reasons to choose SMACS!
Benefit 1: Personalised singularisation analysis
With its SmartSight technology (patent pending) SMACS BioVisual offers a personalised singularision of each person without storing
any data that allows identifcation of the person. Tailgating is made impossible. With
SMACS SmartSight, and BioVisual even 2 small persons side-by-side or tailgating
closely are detected, while large persons are still recognised as a single person.
Benefit 2: Adapts to existing infrastructure
Regardless of the size of the room and the number of doors to
protect, almost any room can be transformed into an intelligent
unmanned airlock, increasing the security of your access control
system.
Benefit 3: High user comfort
Traditional airlocks typically use volumetric sensors or weight measurement systems; this necessitates a small control area and therefore a
limitation of personal freedom; with SMACS, the size of an airlock is
unlimited as several SmartSight sensors and IP cameras may be combined to
cover the entire surface of the airlock.
Benefit 4: Minimal architectural impact
SmartSight sensors can be easily integrated within the ceiling and SMACS can function with any sort of automatic or manual doors, allowing a vast liberty in combining a high
security solution with the latest designs in barriers and doors.
Benefit 5: Material transport
Not only can SMACS detect people but it can also detect the
presence of material. If allowed, the material is placed in a dedicated
material zone which allows for secure transfer procedures, for example in cash transport applications. Additionally specific rights may be assigned to each user access profile, which allows for example cleaners to access high security
zones with their cleaning material all the while remaining “under control.” After each passage SMACS performs an "empty room check" to ensure that no material has been left inside the airlock.
Benefit 6: Fast analysis
The actual anti-tailgating/piggybacking analysis takes less than 1 second; as such the entire passage time is only dictated by the nature of the badge/biometric system in place and the speed of the doors. In a door-free environment (such as SMACS eEntry) the access process allows the passage of more than 25 persons
per minute.
Benefit 7: Best compromise between high security and user-friendliness
Traditional cabin airlocks require a separate access to accomodate wheelchair users. With SMACS this is unnecessary as the
airlock/mantrap can be built with larger dimensions, and BioVisual avoids discrimination by adapting the analysis automatically to wheelchair users. Furthermore, the
SMACS person analysis can be combined with a material checkpoint allowing the passage of small luggage and other materials without need of a separate material access.
Benefit 8: Flexible security management
SMACS offers complete flexibilty in security managment as the
anti-tailgating function can be modulated to suit the needs of your site: for example it can activated only out-of-hours, or the analysis can be set to be uni-directional allowing several
people to exit together. Specific user rights may be assigned to
individual persons, for example to allow/disallow passage of materials, or assign VIP rights to waive the singularisation analysis.
Benefit 9: Keep your existing access control process and user habits
SMACS offers very high flexibilty concerning integration with
existing access control infrasturcture (access control system;
identification; type of doors, etc.). Existing processes may be maintained without changing user habits.
Benefit 10: Lower cost of ownership
As SMACS has no mechanical parts and lower infrastructure adaptation costs, transportation costs and
maintenance costs, SMACS offers a lower cost of ownership despite its higher level of security as compared to traditional airlocks.
